The Steelers lost a game to the Cowboys last Sunday and they also likely lost a player for the rest of the season.

The Steelers announced on Tuesday that they have placed linebacker Steven Johnson on injured reserve. Johnson hurt his ankle against Dallas and would be eligible to return to the team in the postseason if he’s healthy, the Steelers make it and the team hasn’t already designated a player to return from I.R.

Johnson played the last six games for the Steelers, mainly in a special teams role, and had six tackles and a forced fumble. He played for the Titans in 2015 and spent three seasons with the Broncos to open his NFL career.

The team also announced that they have signed linebacker L.J. Fort to the 53-man roster. Fort played seven games for the team this season before being released when the team activated tight end Ladarius Green before facing the Cowboys.
