Steelers G.M. Kevin Colbert says that no decision has been regarding Hines Ward’s future with the team, despite a report that says Ward won’t be back in 2012.

That doesn’t mean NFL Network’s recent report is off. The Steelers really can’t say anything else about Ward at the moment.

“To this current point, no final decisions have been made,” Colbert said about Ward and other veterans. “We’ve had several discussions internally. We’re right in the midst of our free agent evaluations of other teams’ free agents. We’ll meet on those [on the Steelers roster] starting Thursday and carry through Monday.”

Ward is willing to take a lesser salary to return. But will he accept the minimum salary for a veteran of his experience? Even if Ward would take that big a pay cut, there’s no guarantee the Steelers will want him back.
