The Steelers have struck another deal with a draft pick.
Penn State tight end Jesse James, the club’s fifth-round selection, has signed his contract with Pittsburgh, the club said Thursday. The Steelers now have just three unsigned members of their eight-player draft class: Kentucky outside linebacker Bud Dupree (Round One), Auburn wideout Sammie Coates (Round Three), Louisville safety Gerod Holliman (Round Seven).
The 6-foot-7, 261-pound James caught 38 passes for 396 yards and four touchdowns as a senior in 2014. He will vie for playing time at a position where the top target, Heath Miller, turns 33 in October.
