The Steelers finally found their handle on the ball and we’ve got a pretty good little game going on down in Miami.
Pittsburgh leads 17-16 on the back of a big first half from Ben Roethlisberger. He completed 12-of-16 passes for 195 yards and two touchdown passes in the first 30 minutes, more than making up for his fumble early in the first quarter. The first score was a throw to Hines Ward who ran through a couple of Dolphins tackle attempts on his way to the end zone.
We’ve seen that many times before and Big Ben bombs to Mike Wallace are starting to feel just as familiar. They connected on a 53-yard rainbow for the second Steelers score after Wallace beat Jason Allen badly deep down the field. Teams might want to start working a little harder on not letting Wallace beat them deep because he’s making quite a habit of it.
The Wallace score put the Steelers up 17-9, but the Dolphins rallied back with a nine-play, 80-yard drive to draw within a point. Chad Henne completed four passes for 64 yards, capped off by a 26-yard catch and run for a score by Davone Bess. After missing on his first four passes, Henne has hit 12-of-16 for 153 yards.
The stage is set for an excellent second half in South Florida.
