Steve Keim has ties to alleged scam artist who was recently found dead

With 32 training camps up and running (and plenty of things happening in all of them), other stories can slip through the cracks for us.

Here’s one that did, at least at first.

Former Cardinals G.M. Steve Keim has ties to a man named Mohamed Coulibaly. A July 15 investigation from Jacob Adelman of Barron’s alleged that Coulibaly led a scam that attempted to persuade professional athletes to invest in fake Shopify stores.

Coulibaly was found dead in his pool earlier this month. Authorities are investigating.

The original report from Barron’s suggested that the company, Motion Ventures, had entered phony sales into a dashboard in order to make the businesses seem more profitable than they were.

One shopping site, Dailyprodtrend, reflected a $5,000 order from someone in Luxembourg for 100 desktop humidifiers and 120 USB-powered cup warmers. The person living at the supposed shipping address told Barron’s he never made the purchase.

“Who needs 100 humidifiers and 120 cup warmers?” the man said.

Three former NFL players told Barron’s that they had lost, collectively, more than $1 million by investing in Motion Ventures.

Coulibaly had denied, sort of, the allegations. “I strongly dispute a number of the factual assertions and characterizations contained in the Barron’s article and any follow-up reporting that relies upon them,” Coulibaly told the New York Post after the article was published. (By saying that he disputed “a number” of the assertions and characterizations, Coulibaly was implicitly saying he did not dispute at least some of them.)

Keim’s connection to the business can’t be disputed. A November 2025 pitch deck for Motion Ventures, a copy of which PFT has obtained, identifies Keim as the “chief operation/growth officer.” He’s the only other person featured in the deck, along with Coulibaly.

“Steve plays a critical role in guiding expansion strategy, evaluating new opportunities, and supporting leadership across divisions by navigating high-stakes decision-making, managing large budgets, and leading multidisciplinary teams as Motion Ventures continues to scale nationally and internationally,” the pitch deck explains.

The deck identifies several NFL figures as “notable clients and partners,” including Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter, multiple other current and former Eagles players, Keim, and Seahawks G.M. John Schneider. (There’s no indication that any of those individuals authorized their names to be used; PFT has learned that at least one of them did not even know his name was included.)

Keim left the Cardinals in January 2023. In 2024, Keim joined Rich Paul’s Klutch Sports Group as the general manager of the football division.

No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed in connection with the alleged scam, or in connection with Coulibaly’s death.
