Frank Gifford. Mike Garrett. O.J. Simpson. Lynn Swann. Ronnie Lott. Bruce Matthews. Charles White. Anthony Munoz. Marcus Allen. Junior Seau. Carson Palmer. Reggie Bush. And Su’a Cravens?
The list of great players in USC history is a long one, but Cravens -- Washington’s second-round draft pick this season -- thinks he belongs on that list.
Cravens wrote on Twitter that he’s one of the best players in the history of the Trojans, and he’s only overlooked as one of the best ever because when he arrived at USC, the school was in the midst of NCAA sanctions related to violations in the recruiting of Bush.
Cravens may be slightly overestimating himself, but as Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post notes, Cravens didn’t actually say how many players are in that list of “one of the best.” Maybe Cravens, who was chosen All-Pac-12 in 2014, means he’s one of the 1,000 best players in USC history. If so, we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
