Anthony Weaver spent the final three years of his playing career in Houston as a member of the Texans’ defensive line.

Weaver last played in 2008 and made a transition to the coaching ranks in 2010 as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida. He was in the NFL a couple of years later and now he’s worked his way back to the Texans.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Weaver has been hired as the team’s defensive line coach. Paul Pasqualoni resigned after one year in the job.

Weaver was the defensive line coach with the Browns for the last two years and the move to Houston will mark the first time he’s not on a staff with Mike Pettine. Weaver’s first NFL job came with the Jets in 2012 and he followed Pettine to Buffalo and Cleveland the next two years.

Weaver will get to work with J.J. Watt in Houston, although we’re guessing that others in the position group will be in need of more tutelage.
