Derek Newton didn’t need to hear much tampering to know what he needed to do.

The Texans right tackle has agreed to a new five-year deal with his current team, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Newton, 27, figured to draw some interest elsewhere, before deciding to stay put.

A former seventh-round pick, Newton has started 46 games the last three seasons.
