The Houston Texans are hoping to trade defensive tackle Amobi Okoye and wide receiver David Anderson.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Okoye and Anderson received permission to seek trades.
Okoye is just 24 years old and already has four years of starting experience in Houston, but he’s a prototypical 4-3 defensive tackle and isn’t a particularly good fit in the 3-4 defense that new coordinator Wade Phillips is installing.
Anderson is a solid special teams player and has started 10 games in the last three years at wide receiver.
It’s not clear whether the Texans will cut Okoye or Anderson if they don’t get a trade done, but they may be looking to make some cuts as they continue their efforts to free up salary cap space to make a big splash in free agency, perhaps by signing cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.
