The Texans decided to spend in their secondary rather than retain Pro Bowl fullback Vonta Leach.
We like the decision, largely because fullbacks are easier to replace. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports the team agreed to a two-year contract with Lawrence Vickers on Wednesday. Vickers reportedly got $500,000 to sign on a $3 million deal.
Vickers had a nice run in Cleveland and makes a lot of sense as a lead blocker in a zone scheme. While Leach will surely help the Ravens, we think the Texans running game will be just fine when they go without a fullback or when they put Vickers on the field.
