Texans sign Bryant Johnson

The Houston Texans are adding some depth at wide receiver.

Veteran receiver Bryant Johnson signed with the Texans after working out in Houston on Monday.

The Texans like their top three receivers -- Andre Johnson, Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones -- but don’t like the depth at the position beyond the top three. Bryant Johnson has a good chance of making the team and getting playing time in the offense immediately.

A 2003 first-round pick of the Cardinals, the 30-year-old Johnson spent five years in Arizona, one in San Francisco and two in Detroit. He was a 16-game starter for the Lions in 2009 but was largely phased out of their passing game in 2010, catching a career-low 18 passes for 210 yards.
