Kris Brown is on his way to becoming the last original Texan standing. The Houston Chronicle reports the 11-year veteran has signed a four-year, $10 million contract extension through 2013. The deal makes him one of the league’s richest kickers and will guarantee him $2.5 million. His prior contract called for $1.35 million in 2009. Brown and guard Chester Pitts are the only two current Texans that were with the team during their inaugural 2002 season. (Another thing in common: They didn’t block much for David Carr.) Houston remained patient with Brown during early struggles with the team, and he eventually developed into one of the most reliable kickers in football. He’s best known for a five field goal performance in 2007, in which he hit a 57-yard game winner.
