Tim Tebow isn’t ready to say goodbye to the NFL just yet.
Although Tebow hasn’t spent any time with an NFL team since the Patriots cut him at the end of the 2013 preseason, he has been working out, and Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that Tebow is considering attending the veteran combine on March 22.
Of course, any team that had any interest in Tebow could just invite him to come for a workout at any time without having to wait for the veteran combine. The fact that Tebow has had no such workouts indicates that NFL teams just don’t think Tebow is a good enough passer to play quarterback in the NFL.
However, longtime quarterback coach Tom House told Volin that Tebow has been working hard at improving his passing accuracy, and “he went from being a little inaccurate and didn’t throw a whole lot of spirals, to throwing very accurate and real good at spinning the ball.”
It’s still a long shot that Tebow will ever play in the NFL again, but if he’s serious about trying to return, he would be wise to show up at the veteran combine and show NFL teams what he can do. That might be his last opportunity to get a look from NFL scouts.
