A true Saints optimist could see cornerback Tracy Porter’s sprained MCL as a good omen.
After all, Porter suffered the same injury last November, missed four games, then returned better than ever for the team’s championship run.
A Saints realist knows that the report about Porter’s injury from Mike Triplett of the New Orleans Times-Picayune is anything but good news. The secondary has been one of the team’s strengths, and Porter has played well this season. He should miss 3-4 weeks.
First-round pick Patrick Robinson has endured a slow start to his career, but should pick up snaps. Veteran Randall Gay is another option.
