The Broncos have a simple path to home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs: Beat the Chargers, and the road to the Super Bowl goes through Denver.

So it has to be disappointing to the Broncos that they’re struggling mightily against the lowly Chargers.

At halftime, it’s 7-6 Broncos, with Denver getting a touchdown on a great catch-and-run by Demaryius Thomas in the first minute of the game, and things going south for Denver’s offense from there. Brock Osweiler has struggled under pressure, lost a fumble and thrown two interceptions, and he’s not getting much help from his teammates, other than that one big play by Thomas.

The good news for the Broncos is that they’ve got a great defense, and the Chargers can’t move the ball much against them. But this game is closer than it should be.
