Kyle Orton spoke with Chiefs coach Todd Haley on Wednesday night, and told Haley he was excited to join the Chiefs.
The logistics of joining his new team will prevent Orton from starting at quarterback right away, though.
Orton was not in Kansas City for Thursday’s practice. He’s expected to be there Friday, but Haley announced that Palko will start at quarterback against the Steelers on Sunday night.
The Chiefs will probably try to avoid using Orton this week, even if the Chiefs are on the short end of a blowout. With a full week of practice to get up to speed, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Orton start next week.
