Vick wanted Goodell, Dungy, Segal to stay away from his return

When Michael Vick returns to the NFL for his first regular-season game since December 2006, none of the three men instrumental in the second phase of his career (NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, mentor Tony Dungy, and agent Joel Segal) will be present.

And, according to ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio, that’ll be the case because Vick wanted it that way.

Segal told Paolantonio that Vick wants his own space to do his own thing against the Chiefs.

As one person close to Vick told Paolantonio on Sunday morning, “Michael Vick is going back to school and he wants none of the parents around.”

And that’s not a bad strategy, given what happened during the six years that Vick operated without parental supervision.
