Victor Cruz posts video of himself making football moves

FILE - In this Oct. 11, 2015 file photo, New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz gives thumbs up on the sidelines before an NFL football game against the San Francisco 49ers in East Rutherford, N.J. The star wide receiver was hoping to make his season debut for the New York Giants against the Eagles on Monday, Oct. 19, 2015 but won’t play as he continues to recover from a serious knee injury sustained on Oct. 12, 2014. We should find out soon when Giants training camps opens how close wide receiver Victor Cruz is to being about to play football.

But until then, we’ve got the next-best thing: Self-posted workout video.

To provide evidence that he’s over the knee and calf injuries that have kept him off the field since October 2014, Cruz posted a video on Instagram which showed him running a route, cutting and making a leaping catch.

“This journey has taken me through so much,” he wrote, via the New York Daily News. Just happy to flourish again. Still a long way go. #StriveForGreatness #RWTW”

Cruz did some individual drills during minicamp in June, and he’s correct that he has a significant distance to travel to get back to his old form. If he can do so, the Giants would love it, but they’ve covered themselves by using a second-round pick on his replacement Sterling Shepard just in case.
