Bad news? They still have eight.
The C-patches-for-everyone trend continues in the NFL, with the Vikings naming eight captains for the 2026 season.
Starting quarterback Kyler Murray, in his first year with the Vikings, is one of them. The others are receiver Justin Jefferson, running back Aaron Jones Sr., tackle Brian O’Neill, linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel, linebacker Blake Cashman, safety Josh Metellus, and long snapper Andrew DePaola.
Cashman and Van Ginkel replaced Jonathan Greenard and Harrison Smith, who are no longer with the team. Murray replaces J.J. McCarthy, who is now a backup quarterback — possibly No. 3 on the depth chart.
