Washington is suddenly without a veteran pass-rusher after Junior Galette suffered another torn Achilles today.

But they’re not looking to fill his spot with someone even more veteran.

According to John Keim of ESPN.com, Washington isn’t interested in signing free agent Dwight Freeney.

Freeney had 8.0 sacks for Arizona last season (and 119.5 in 14 NFL seasons), seemingly showing that he has enough left in the tank at age 36 to hustle up a job.

But Washington’s apparently willing to give long looks to second-rounders Preston Smith (2015) and Su’a Cravens (2016), and doesn’t want to invest in more of a proven commodity.
