A quarterback who threw for more than 11,000 yards in his collegiate career has signed a free agent deal with Washington.
Washington State’s Connor Halliday, a 28-game starter who connected on 62 percent of his passes in college, was among the 11 rookie free agents signed by the Redskins on Thursday, the club announced.
With Robert Griffin III, Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy on the roster, Halliday (6-3, 196) might be ticketed for Washington’s practice squad if he shows promise. His arm strength is one area in which he’ll have to prove NFL-sufficient.
The other undrafted free agents signing with Washington were San Diego wide receiver Reggie Bell, Arkansas offensive line Brey Cook, Clemson defensive end Corey Crawford, Syracuse linebacker Dyshawn Davis, Northwestern wide receiver Tony Jones, UAB placekicker Ty Long, BYU tight end Devin Mahina, Central Florida linebacker Terrance Plummer, Dubuque wide receiver Tyler Rutenbeck and Texas A&M running back Trey Williams.
