Washington takes the lead, DeMarco Murray hears the boos

Rich Schultz

Philadelphia’s offense got off to a great start tonight, with Ryan Mathews scoring a touchdown on the game’s first drive. Things changed when DeMarco Murray’s turn in the running back rotation came up.

After Mathews played the first drive and Darren Sproles the second, Murray got the ball on the first two plays of Philadelphia’s third drive. As he has all season, Murray looked like a fish out of water and couldn’t do anything. That led to a third down on which Sam Bradford was called for intentional grounding, and the Eagles had to punt. Murray was loudly booed by the fans in Philadelphia.

Washington’s offense, however, is heating up. After going three-and-out on the first possession, Washington has two touchdowns from Kirk Cousins to Jordan Reed. It’s now 13-7, Washington.

Chip Kelly’s offense needs to get moving again. Keeping Murray on the sideline may be the way to do it.
