Watkins thought he’d be drafted by the Lions or the Buccaneers

Watkins

Last week, Pro Football Talk on NBCSN was off. This week, it’s on.

Returning for a full slate of one-hour shows, Monday gets rolling with a look at the news of the day and a closer examination of the offseasons of the Texans, Bills, and Browns.

The closer look at the Bills includes a visit with receiver Sammy Watkins, the player Buffalo acquired by trading the ninth overall pick in the draft, along with a 2-15 first-round selection and a 2015 fourth-round pick. Among other things, Watkins says he thought that he’d be a member of the Lions or the Buccaneers, and that both teams had told him they planned to trade up to get him.

The Bills beat them to the punch, making a bold, all-in move to No. 4 in the hopes that the team’s next owner won’t take an all-out approach to the front office and coaching staff.

Tune in for the full interview, and also for the PFT Planet stance on today’s poll question regarding Colts linebacker Robert Mathis. Do you buy his version of the events leading to his suspension, or do his agent’s remarks bring to mind Joe Pesci’s opening statement in My Cousin Vinny?
