Zack Moss ready to carry the load again with Jonathan Taylor out

Zack Moss has made five starts in place of Jonathan Taylor already this season. He will make a few more until Taylor returns from thumb surgery.

Taylor is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

Moss already has a career-high 672 rushing yards, ranking 10th in the league despite sharing the load with Taylor the past seven weeks.

“[The chance to reach 1,000 yards] is out there, but I think all those hypothetical things come with team success,” Moss said Wednesday, via George Bremer of The Herald Bulletin. “Right now is about handling this week, going out there with a divisional opponent, going to their home where they play a lot better at home and obviously now our second time playing them.

“We did some things the first time which I’m sure they don’t want to happen again. That’s kind of where my mindset is -- and I’m sure everybody on the team as well – is we’ve got a chance to do some special things this season, and we’ve go another step to take.”

Moss rushed for a career-high 165 yards and scored two touchdowns when the Colts beat the Titans 23-16 on Oct. 8.

“Everyone has a role,” Moss said Wednesday. “That’s the beauty of the NFL. When your role changes, you’ve got to be ready to go physically, mentally and just go out there and play. I have great teammates that allow me to go out and do that, so it’s not all me.”
