Jets activated S Rontez Miles from the active/PUP list.
Miles is finally game-ready after taking five months to recover from a torn meniscus. S Ibraheim Campbell was waived in the corresponding roster move.
  • Defensive Back
Jets signed California (PA) S Rontez Miles.
Miles (5-foot-11 5/8, 203) was a two-time first-team FCS All American, making 43 career starts and intercepting nine passes at free safety for the Vulcans. He ran 4.62 at the Combine and demonstrated lower-body explosion both in the vertical (36.5") and broad jump (10-foot-3). The Jets’ talent-deficient roster is the place to go as an undrafted free agent.
  • Defensive Back
Jets S Rontez Miles suffered a broken orbital bone this preseason.
The bone was broken in two places and required surgery. The Jets originally called the injury an eye laceration when it happened in the second preseason game, but it is much more serious than that. Miles is out indefinitely.
  • Defensive Back
Jets S Rontez Miles underwent offseason hip surgery.
A second-year UDFA out of California (PA), Miles spent the majority of 2013 on the Jets’ practice squad. At 6'0/203, he’s a big hitter whom ESPN New York mentions as a sleeper to “make a move in training camp” and contribute. Miles posted a 36.5-inch vertical and 10-foot-3 broad jump at the 2013 Combine.

Jets signed S Rontez Miles from their practice squad.
Fifth-round OG Jarvis Harrison was waived in a corresponding move. With Calvin Pryor (ankle) set to miss his second game in a row, Miles will be asked to shore up a safety corps which was a disaster last week against Oakland. It is not out of the question Miles earns the start ahead of Marcus Williams and Dion Bailey.
  • Defensive Back
Jets tendered restricted free agent S Rontez Miles at the original-pick level.
Since Miles was an UDFA, the Jets will get the right of first refusal if another team tries to poach the special teamer. He played 125 defensive snaps in 2017.

Jets placed S Rontez Miles on the active/PUP list.
Miles is still recovering from a torn meniscus. He’s a candidate to begin the year on reserve/PUP.
  • Defensive Back
Jets S Rontez Miles will miss 3-4 months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus.
It explains the Jets’ 11th-hour signing of S J.J. Wilcox on Tuesday after he appeared committed to the 49ers. Miles played just 125 defensive snaps last season but is one of the key cogs for the Jets’ special teams units.

Jets promoted S Rontez Miles from the practice squad.
CB Josh Thomas was waived in a corresponding roster move. A second-year undrafted free agent, Miles made one appearance in 2013. He’ll serve on special teams if he’s active for Week 16.
