Dolphins signed WR Ryan Grice-Mullen to a reserve/future contract.
Grice-Mullen started at wideout opposite Davone Bess at Hawaii and was similarly productive, but also went undrafted in 2008 and hasn’t been in the NFL since. He’ll try to last on the offseason roster with slot receiver skills.
  • MIA Wide Receiver
Ryan Grice-Mullen may get a look as the Dolphins’ return man this offseason.
The Fins won’t miss Ted Ginn’s alligator arms, but they’ll surely miss his explosive return skills. Grice-Mullen can play in the slot on offense, but he’s a major long shot for a roster spot. His former teammate at Hawaii, Davone Bess, is a pedestrian, if reliable in-house candidate to return punts.
  • MIA Wide Receiver
    Dolphins waived WR/KR Ryan Grice-Mullen.
A recent hamstring injury wasn’t helping Davone Bess’ former teammate at Hawaii, but he was also outplayed by Marlon Moore and Roberto Wallace. Bess remains the heavy favorite to retain punt return duties.
  • MIA Wide Receiver
Receivers Ryan Grice-Mullen, Brian Hartline, Davone Bess, and Taurus Johnson are working as the primary punt return candidates in Dolphins camp.
The Dolphins have an opening on punt returns. If Grice-Mullen is going to push the disappointing Patrick Turner off the roster as the fifth receiver, this is his ticket. Bess averaged just 7.5 yards per return last season.
