Jaguars waived RB Deji Karim, LB JoJo Dickson, LB Jammie Kirlew, K Sam Swank, CB Trumaine McBride, and LB Stephen Franklin.

Karim boasts impressive measurables, but he fell out of favor down the stretch last season after averaging just 2.1 yards on 63 carries as Maurice Jones-Drew’s backup. He could draw interest as a kickoff-return candidate.

Eagles signed Wake Forest K Sam Swank.

Though a Lou Groza Award finalist in 2007, a nagging groin injury in his senior season kept Swank from getting drafted. With legit NFL leg strength, he’s landed in an interesting situation. David Akers is coming off a disastrous NFC Championship Game performance and is no longer reliable beyond 40 yards.

Eagles waived K Sam Swank.

Swank has the leg, but the undrafted FA went just 11-of-17 on field goals as a senior, even missing a PAT. The Birds will stay with David Akers for now.

Looks like Shayne Graham is ready to go for Week 1. This also opens the door for some more Chad Ocho Cinco kicking fun.

Giants signed K Sam Swank to a reserve/future contract.

Swank went undrafted in 2009 out of Wake Forest. The 24-year-old old will be a big long shot to unseat starter Lawrence Tynes during the offseason.

Jaguars signed K Sam Swank.

The 2007 Lou Groza Award finalist is handling kicking chores in this week’s practices while Josh Scobee rests a tight leg. Scobee is expected to play in the exhibition opener, so Swank shouldn’t get his hopes up.

Giants waived K Sam Swank.

The 2007 Lou Groza Award finalist has a legit NFL leg, but he’s been unable to stick in stops with the Eagles, Bengals, and Giants. Lawrence Tynes should have more job security this year than he did early last season.
