Chargers selected Boise State DT Scott Matlock with the No. 200 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Matlock (6’4/296) was a two-star recruit and the 132nd-ranked strong-side defensive end from the 2018 prep class, Matlock was widely touted as the heart and soul of the Boise State defense. He attended the NFLPA Bowl and got a call up to the Shrine Bowl, where he had a solid practice showing. A high-effort player that uses his hands well and makes plays often out of sheer determination. He has some physical tools in an 85th percentile 40 yard dash and a 91st percentile Broad Jump. His promising testing lends itself to Matlock’s explosive first step that allows him to gain penetration. He will begin his career as a run-stopping three tech but should develop a pass rush arsenal over time.
