Chargers signed linebacker Steve Foley to a three-year contract extension, through the 2009 season.
Terms were not yet disclosed. Foley enjoyed a breakout season in 2004 with the Bolts, recording 10 sacks, 65 tackles, two interceptions, 12 passes defended, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He may come cheaply in IDP drafts because he’s not a brand name.

The Chargers have sued former LB Steve Foley for $416,666 after an arbitrator ruled he owed the team a portion of his signing bonus.
Foley’s career ended when he was shot by an off-duty police officer in 2006 after an alleged car chase. He was placed on injured reserve, triggering a default payment from the Chargers. But the team says he’s contractually bound to repay the money if he can’t play.
