This is a surprise because Rushing plays safety and the Colts will be without Matt Giordano against the Chargers. Rushing is not eligible to return to the team’s practice squad. Toudouze was drafted as a project last year, but apparently is ready to back up left tackle Tony Ugoh.

Rushing was having a very solid camp, but he suffered a ligament injury while covering a punt in Indy’s first preseason game. Pierre Garcon, Devin Aromashodu and Courtney Roby will now battle to return kicks. Herold was to provide depth at tight end, but suffered a knee injury in the last preseason game.
