Rams coach Scott Linehan said he plans to keep eight defensive linemen on the final roster, which leaves Trevor Johnson and Eric Moore competing for the fourth spot at defensive end.
The loser of the battle is expected to be cut, but should probably be good enough to help another team.

Both were competing for backup/special teams spots on the club.

Thomas is expected to have the upper hand. Johnson, a third-year player, recorded nine tackles in 2005.

Saints signed DE Trevor Johnson, formerly of the Jets.
Johnson lost out to Bryan Thomas for a starting job at outside linebacker in New York’s 3-4 defense during training camp. He’ll add depth with Will Smith (questionable, knee) currently on the mend.
