  • CIN Running Back #21
Bengals agreed to terms with Zack Moss, formerly of the Colts, on a two-year, $8 million contract.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo broke the news and it was quickly followed up with a report of Joe Mixon’s release. Per Garafolo, the deal includes $4.3 million in the first year. Moss signed with the Colts as a backup last year and even missed Week 1 because of an arm injury. With Jonathan Taylor on the PUP list, Moss was granted the starting role in Week 2 and ran with it, amassing 96 carries for 466 yards and four scores over the next five weeks. He would even remain relevant with Taylor active, forcing a committee for a few more weeks before Taylor slowly took over the backfield. With Mixon out of the picture in Cincinnati, Moss will slot in as the top option in the backfield. Chase Brown, who broke off some explosive plays as a rookie, should still see plenty of carries while also handling the bulk of the passing downs snaps. As the likely goal line back for a high-powered offense, Moss will project for RB2 fantasy numbers if his new team doesn’t make any other additions at running back.

Zack Moss rushed six times for 30 yards in the Colts’ Week 18 loss to the Texans.
Moss’s 2023 season was an interesting one. After serving as the Colts’ lead running back in five of their first six games of the season, Moss took a back seat to Jonathan Taylor following his return from the PUP list in Week 5. With Sunday’s slate of games still to go, Moss currently ranks 25th in the league with 794 rushing yards, with the majority of those yards coming in the early part of the season. The former third-round pick will be an unrestricted free agent heading into the offseason and could have a number of suitors after his strong season. In addition to averaging a solid 4.3 yards per carry, Moss also displayed good hands out of the backfield, catching 27 passes for 192 yards and another two scores. Depending on where he lands next offseason, Moss could be valued anywhere from a high-end RB3 to a Zero RB handcuff.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Zack Moss (forearm) is expected to play in Week 18 against the Texans.
Moss has missed two games because of the forearm injury. He was most recently serving as the Colts’ starting running back because of an injury to Jonathan Taylor. The last time both backs were active, Taylor out-carried Moss 15-8. A similar split is likely for Week 18, putting Taylor at the top of the RB2 ranks while keeping Moss alive as a FLEX option but nothing more.
  • IND Guard #56
Colts listed OG Quenton Nelson (ankle) as questionable for Week 18 against the Texans.
Nelson was a limited participant in back-to-back practices to close out the week and should have a chance to suit up in what’s arguably the Colts’ biggest game of the season. In addition to Nelson, the Colts also listed center Ryan Kelly (ankle), cornerback Kenny Moore (back), and running back Zack Moss (forearm) as questionable heading into the weekend.

Zack Moss (forearm) practiced on Thursday.
Moss has now practiced on back-to-back days and should be in line to play in Week 18 against the Texans. Even if active, fantasy managers shouldn’t jump to put him in their lineups, as Moss has been an afterthought in Indy’s offense with Jonathan Taylor healthy.

Zack Moss (forearm) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.
Moss was limited in Tuesday’s walkthrough but is now on track to suit up this week. He and the Colts will face Houston in a de facto play-in game on Saturday. Moss will back up Jonathan Taylor. Taylor rushed 21 times for 96 yards and a score last week. He should see the majority of the running back touches for Indy with Moss mixing in for the occasional carry.

Colts RB Zack Moss (forearm) was limited in Tuesday’s walkthrough.
Moss has missed a pair of games with a forearm injury sustained in Week 15. He was a limited practice participant last week and starts this week off with a limited listing as well. Moss has a shot at returning in Week 18 against the Texans to back up Jonathan Taylor.

Colts declared RB Zack Moss, DT Adetomiwa Adebawore, C Jack Anderson, S Henry Black, LB Cameron McGrone, and CB Kenny Moore II inactive for Week 17 against the Raiders.
Moss will miss another game with an arm injury he sustained a few weeks ago. Jonathan Taylor will function as the Colts’ lead back while likely splitting backfield pass routes with Tyler Goodson. Taylor will be a top-10 fantasy option against a Raiders defense that has improved over the past month.

Zack Moss (forearm) will not play in Week 17 against the Raiders.
Moss is still recovering from the forearm injury he suffered two weeks ago. He was limited in practice this week, giving him a good shot at suiting up for the Colts’ season final. Jonathan Taylor will handle the bulk of the carries for Indianapolis for at least another game. He turned 19 carries into 43 yards and a score last week and will rank as an RB1 versus the Raiders.

Zack Moss (forearm) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.
Moss missed Week 16 with the arm injury. In his absence, Jonathan Taylor returned and saw 18 carries. He rushed for 43 yards and a touchdown. If Moss is back, he will likely serve as the backup to Taylor, though he should expect to see more work than the backups did in Week 16. Fantasy managers shouldn’t be counting on Moss for the championship round.
