Players are encouraged to drive hard to the net and on Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson took that practice to its extreme.

He charged at the crease during a power-play opportunity in the second period with so much speed that he needed to drop onto his back to protect his head as he followed the puck to the back of the net. It paid off though as he tied the game at two in Arizona’s eventual 6-3 victory.

You can see his work below:

“I saw the puck laying there and I went to the net pretty hard,” Ekman-Larsson said, per “I should get two goals for that one. I almost hit my head on that one.”

The 23-year-old defenseman also got an assist last night to give him 19 points in 38 contests. Among blueliners, he’s tied for the NHL lead with 10 goals.
