Tropeano

Tropeano was signed to a minor league contract by the Ranges with an invite to spring training, but didn’t make the club and posted a 3.05 ERA with a 21/17 K/BB ratio over his 12 appearances and 20 2/3 innings with Triple-A Round Rock. He’s now free to sign with another club, but the interest might be minimal.

The latest series of Rangers’ cuts leaves their major-league spring training roster at 43 players. Arihara, Tropeano and Workman will function as organizational pitching depth and Pozo provides some emergency catching depth moving forward.

Tropeano split time between the Giants and Mets during the 2021 campaign, logging five major-league appearances in the process. The 31-year-old righty spent the majority of last season at the Triple-A level for the Mets, Giants and Dodgers organizations, posting a respectable 3.89 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 51/24 K/BB ratio across 46 1/3 innings (17 appearances, nine starts). He’ll compete for a spot on the Rangers’ Opening Day roster this spring.

Tropeano has seen some spot duty with the Giants and Mets this season. He’ll provide depth for a club that’s dealt with plenty of injuries.

Tropeano cleared waivers after the Mets removed him from their 40-man roster and has decided to look for a job elsewhere rather than accept an outright assignment.

Tropeano becomes a roster casualty after all of the Mets deadline additions on Friday. He has pitched well this season -- both at the big leagues and at Triple-A, which makes it likely that a team may be willing to take a chance on him on waivers.

This seems to be a common role for Tropeano this season, who seems to be catching a bus or plane every other week. The 30-year-old has had positive results this season for the Mets, posting a 2.25 ERA over eight innings while carrying a 2.18 ERA and 1.31 over 20 2/3 frames for Triple-A Syracuse.

Tropeano heads back to Triple-A to make room for recently-acquired Rich Hill. He’s been up-and-down all year and it’s doubtful this is the last time he’s featured in these reports.

Tropeano is returning to the Mets’ bullpen ahead of Wednesday’s series finale versus the Reds. The well-traveled 30-year-old right-hander holds a career 4.22 ERA in 241 major league innings.

The Mets are going with a bullpen day to finish out their series with the Pirates and decided to recall right-hander Jerad Eickhoff. Tropeano has a 2.28 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over eight frames this season at the major league level.
