Brad Gushue, who skipped Canada to 2006 Olympic curling gold, fell during a competition in Nova Scotia on Saturday, leaving a trail of blood on the ice, received stitches at a hospital across the street and returned to the match three ends later, according to CBC.

“Pride’s hurt more than anything,” Gushue told the opposing skip when he returned, according to Yahoo Sports.

Gushue’s rink lost the quarterfinal match 5-2.
