A one-hour special on the U.S. women’s gymnastics team airs Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
The USA Gymnastics World Championships Selection Show Presented by Tampax takes an in-depth look at how the five-woman team was decided for the Oct. 17-25 Worlds in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The show focuses on last week’s two-day selection competition in Crossville, Tennessee.
On the first day, Claire Pease and Charleigh Bullock clinched spots on their first senior world team with the top all-around scores combining results from the Xfinity U.S. Championships in August (weighted at 40%) and the selection event (weighted at 60%).
After day two, a committee chose the last three members of the team — 2024 Olympic gold medalist Hezly Rivera, world team veteran Skye Blakely and Reese Esponda, who made her first global championship team.
This month’s World Championships include the first major team competition since the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 2025 Worlds included individual events only.
The U.S. women, in addition to winning 2024 Olympic gold, took the last seven women’s team titles at worlds dating to 2011.
In the individual all-around, the U.S. put at least one woman on the podium at every Olympics and worlds dating to 2003.
