Marcel Hirscher, the world’s best Alpine skier four years running, enjoyed one of the first days of his offseason by skiing a slalom course with gates filled with colored powder paint.

Every time the Austrian carved around a gate, an explosion of color followed him.

“It was a surreal experience — simply amazing!” Hirscher said, according to Red Bull. “I couldn’t ski with the speed I normally do in races, even though the course was very steep in the first part, up to 75 percent incline. At each gate I was blinded for a split second because I had to ski through a cloud of yellow and blue.”

Hirscher, the Sochi Olympic slalom silver medalist, will try next season to match Luxembourg’s Marc Girardelli‘s men’s record of five career World Cup overall titles.
