Ryan Seacrest knows a star when he sees one, and he believes that figure skater Yuna Kim draws the same kind of adoration and fanfare that performers such as Beyonce and Madonna do.

Seacrest sat down for an interview - and a quick, almost perilous skating session - with the South Korean star, gaining some insight regarding the spotlight the 2010 gold medalist operates under.

Kim, 23, is a star on such a scale that she generates front page news in her country.

She’s a strong contender to defend her gold medal, though Japan’s Mao Asada is also a heavy favorite (U.S. skater Ashley Wagner ranks among those who people believe will head up the rest of the pack).

If Kim succeeds in landing gold in back-to-back Olympics, she’d be the first figure skater to accomplish such a feat since Katarina Witt won gold in 1984 and 1988. She’s expected to retire after Sochi, so the goal is for the marquee star to nail her curtain call.
