Serena Williams would save Olympic medals first if house caught fire

Serena Williams

How much does 21-time Grand Slam singles champion Serena Williams value her four Olympic gold medals?

“When we were speaking to her, she said the first thing she would grab if her house was on fire would be her Olympic medals,” Australian 400m hurdles Olympian Lauren Wells said, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Williams and Wells conversed at a shared sponsor event in Melbourne last month, according to the newspaper.

Williams, 34, eyes her fourth Olympic team in Rio and could play Olympic mixed doubles for the first time.

She took singles gold at London 2012 and doubles gold with sister Venus Williams at Sydney 2000, Beijing 2008 and London 2012. She missed the Athens 2004 Games with a left knee injury.
