The feeling going into the women’s tournament was that it came down to Canada, the U.S. and everyone else. That much has been solidified as each nation cruised to this expected gold medal contest.

The certainty fades when you attempt to appoint a favorite, however. The U.S. came in with a lot of hype and has at times been more dominant in its matches, yet Canada is shooting for a fourth consecutive gold and hasn’t lost an Olympic women’s hockey game in ages. Really, it’s just a fascinating match that could go either way.

The Canadian and United States men’s and women’s hockey teams will face off in two high-stakes games in as many days. It starts with this duel for the gold.
