Chukwurah’s injury makes it easier for first-round pick Gaines Adams to rack up significant playing time.

Chukwurah won the job as Tampa Bay’s starting right end before the injury. Greg Spires is likely to hold onto that job as Chukwurah gets back to 100%.

Don’t get carried away, they are just making the rookie earn his stripes. Jovan Haye is also lining up with the first team at under tackle, but won’t stick.

The Bucs signed Chukwurah to help on passing downs and play special teams, but he was seeing a lot of time at right defensive end of late. First-round pick Gaines Adams should now replace him and be a starter all year.

The Tampa Tribune says it may only be until Pat Chukwurah (knee) returns, but Adams should have every opportunity to keep the job if he plays well. He had an inconsistent camp, but possesses otherworldly pass-rush ability.
