The Raiders worked out free agent LBs Prescott Burgess and Kevin Malast Tuesday.
Burgess has been waived by the Ravens twice in the past month. A pure special teamer since being a sixth-round pick in 2007, he’s notched 35 tackles in 38 career games. If signed, he’d be taking Ricky Brown’s (concussion, injured reserve) place on special teams.

Ravens agreed to terms with LB Prescott Burgess.
Burgess will provide depth at linebacker and on special teams with Dannell Ellerbe nursing a hamstring injury.
  • FA Linebacker
Ravens waived LB Prescott Burgess with an injury settlement.
Burgess was on injured reserve with a torn abdominal muscle. If he clears waivers, he’ll become a free agent. One of the Ravens’ core special teamers the past two seasons, Burgess tallied 17 tackles in 19 games.

Ravens placed LB Prescott Burgess (abdomen) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Re-signed just two weeks ago, Burgess tore his abdominal muscle against the Cardinals. Baltimore will sign a street free agent to replace Burgess on special teams.
  • FA Linebacker
Former Ravens LB Prescott Burgess is among the veteran free agents trying out for the Texans this week.
Also getting a look are FB Moran Norris and WR Mike Sims-Walker. The Texans tryout is Sims-Walker’s second in two weeks. Considering the Texans’ lack of veteran depth behind Andre Johnson, it won’t bode well for MSW’s future if he again goes unsigned.

    Ravens re-signed LB Prescott Burgess.
Burgess was waived by the Ravens at final cuts earlier this month. He’s a pure special teamer.

    Ravens waived LB Prescott Burgess.
The special teamer was just re-signed last week, but the Ravens wanted his roster spot to bring back CB Bryan McCann. Burgess will remain on Ozzie Newsome’s speed dial in case of an emergency.
  • FA Linebacker
Ravens signed sixth-round LB Prescott Burgess to a three-year contract.
David Harris’ linebacker teammate at Michigan has some versatility and good cover skills as a former safety, although his speed is unexceptional. Burgess will try to make the Ravens at first by helping on special teams.
  • BAL Linebacker #52
An MRI revealed that Ray Lewis does not have a tear in the main muscle of his triceps. He has a strained triceps and plans to play in Week 2.
The Ravens say Lewis will be a game-time decision against the Jets. Baltimore’s options at middle linebacker if Lewis doesn’t play are special teamer Dennis Haley, rookie Prescott Burgess, or moving one of starting outside linebackers Jarret Johnson and Bart Scott inside.

Ravens placed rookie LB Prescott Burgess on injured reserve with an ailing quadriceps muscle, ending his season.
Burgess, a sixth-round pick from Michigan, finished his first pro season with four tackles. His long-term upside is likely only as a special teamer.
