Rams signed WR Quintez Cephus, formerly of the Lions, to the practice squad.
Cephus could work his way on the game-day roster but he’s had plenty of chances to prove himself worthy of a starting role in the past and never once cleared 350 receiving yards in a single season. He can be left on waiver wires at this time.

    Texans released WR Quintez Cephus.
Cephus was signed as veteran depth on the eve of training camp. Still somehow only 26 years old, Cephus has caught just three balls since the 2021 season.
  • BUF Wide Receiver #87
Texans signed Quintez Cephus, formerly of the Bills.
Cephus spent about a month with the Bills before the team opted to part ways with the former fifth-rounder. Cephus is returning from a season-long gambling suspension that sidelined him for all of 2023 and hopes to latch onto a 53-man roster in training camp. He’s caught 37 passes for 568 yards and four touchdowns over three seasons and wouldn’t be anything more than added depth if he were to make the Texans.
  • FA Wide Receiver #87
    Bills released WR Quintez Cephus.
Cephus’ release comes on the heels of the Bills signing safety Dee Delaney. Cephus was signed by the Bills shortly after being reinstated from a year-long suspension for violating the league’s gambling policy but clearly didn’t impress enough to remain with the team ahead of training camp. Cephus has caught 37 passes for 568 yards and four touchdowns in his three-year career and could earn another opportunity elsewhere ahead of training camp.
  • BUF Wide Receiver #87
Bills signed WR Quintez Cephus, formerly of the Lions.
Cephus was reinstated from a season-long suspension for violating the league’s gambling policy and will now have a chance to make the Bills’ roster. Cephus, a former fifth-round pick, has appeared in 22 games over his career, catching 37 passes for 568 yards and four scores while playing 83.1 percent of his snaps from out wide. While this is likely a one-year prove-it deal, the Bills receiving corps may be then enough for Cephus to land a spot on the regular season roster when all is said and done.

NFL reinstated free agent WR Quintez Cephus from the reserve/suspended list.
When last we left Cephus last April, he was receiving an indefinite ban for betting on NFL contests. He’s lucky he’s back in the league at all. Still only 26, Cephus might actually get a second chance, however, as a relatively experienced, versatile-ish veteran with 37 career grabs. We assume it won’t come in Detroit after last year’s unpleasantness.
  • FA Defensive Back #38
Free agent CB C.J. Moore was reinstated from his season-long suspension for violating the league’s gambling policy and is free to sign with any team.
Moore was one of several players suspended last season for violating the league’s gambling policy. He was released by the Lions shortly after the suspension was handed down and had signed a two-year, $4.5 million contract a month before. Moore has played primarily on special teams and has just 345 defensive snaps to his name over the first four years of his career. In addition to Moore, the league also reinstated WR Quintez Cephus, DL Demetrius Taylor, EDGE Shaka Toney, and LB Rashod Berry.

    Lions released WR Quintez Cephus.
Cephus was one of four Lions suspended for violating the NFL’s gambling policy. Cephus was found to have been betting on NFL games last season and was slapped with an indefinite suspension that requires a minimum one-year ban. The Lions thought it best to part ways with Cephus, a former fifth-round draft pick soon after the news dropped. He appeared in four games last season due to a leg injury and has caught 37 passes for 568 yards, and four touchdowns in his career.

Lions WR Quintez Cephus (leg) is done for the season.
We’ve come a long way since early August when head coach Dan Campbell said Cephus would be out for a “short period of time.” Cephus’ practice period expired before the Lions chose to activate him, thus ending a 2022 season that never really got started for the veteran receiver. He’ll likely be battling for a roster spot heading into 2023.

Lions HC Dan Campbell told reporters that WR Quintez Cephus “will be down for we feel like a short period of time, but I think he’s going to be OK.”
Cephus went down in practice on Tuesday with a leg injury and left the field with trainers. While he didn’t completely avoid injury, he appears not to have suffered anything major. Cephus is battling to provide early season depth for the Lions but is unlikely to have a fantasy impact.
