    Bills re-signed WR Ruvell Martin.
Martin made it through final cuts only to be released last Tuesday. The former Packer and Seahawk will be primarily a special teamer as the Bills’ fifth receiver.

    Bills re-signed WR Ruvell Martin.
Martin, who turns 30 before the season, appeared in 14 games in 2011, hauling in seven passes for 82 yards. Though blessed with plus size (6'4/220), Martin is a fifth receiver type with only an outside chance at a roster spot. Pro Football Focus did credit Martin with ten special teams tackles last year.

Ruvell Martin caught four passes for 42 yards in the Week 17 loss to the Patriots.
With Stevie Johnson benched in the first quarter and Brad Smith (hamstring) out, the Bills were scraping the bottom of the barrel. Martin didn’t catch a single pass until Week 15 of this season and ends with seven catches for 82 yards on the year. He’s just a special teamer heading into free agency.

    Bills re-signed WR Ruvell Martin.
Martin doesn’t have a weekly offensive role. His biggest contribution is as the gunner on punt-team coverage.

Beat writer Mark Ludwiczak believes Marcus Easley needs “a major breakthrough performance to have any chance of sticking around.”
Ludwiczak notes that Easley hasn’t shown much “explosiveness” in his routes and “hasn’t lived up to the hype” in training camp. Even if the Bills keep six receivers, Easley is behind Ruvell Martin and perhaps even Naaman Roosevelt in the battle for the final spot.

Bills WR Ruvell Martin (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 3.
Martin has been used primarily on special teams, including the gunner role on punt returns.

    Packers released WR Robert Ferguson.
It isn’t like they were going to find a taker for his $1.8 million salary, although the Pack still saved some cap room. James Jones is now locked in as Green Bay’s third wideout with Ruvell Martin No. 4 and Carlyle Holiday probably No. 5. Houston will likely inquire about Ferguson’s services soon.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Ruvell Martin “is scheduled for an exam” on his injured back after sitting out Thursday’s practice.
Martin began experiencing pain on Monday and Tuesday, but hasn’t been ruled for out for Week 8.

Robert Ferguson is listed as the Packers’ fourth-string flanker on their initial depth chart heading to the preseason.
After Donald Driver, James Jones and Shaun Bodiford are before him. At the split end position, Ruvell Martin and David Clowney back up Greg Jennings.
