    The Oregon State alum may have a shot at being Denver’s long-term punter. He’ll start in Week 17 and likely stay with the team in the offseason.

    Broncos waived WR Marquay McDaniel, P Sam Paulescu, G Dylan Gandy, LB Jordan Beck, CB Wale Dada, and DT Steven Harris.
    Paulescu’s release means Brett Kern will be Denver’s punter.

    Redskins coach Jim Zorn wants to give Hunter Smith (groin) one more week to get healthy before deciding whether to put him on injured reserve.

    Paulescu last popped up with the Redskins in Week 9. He’s replacing Dirk Johnson, who is out for the season with a pulled hamstring.
  • Redskins released P Sam Paulescu and signed Lendy Holmes from their practice squad.
    Hunter Smith (groin) is apparently good to go. Paulescu punted three times with a 50-yard average in the Redskins’ Week 9 loss to the Falcons. Holmes gives the Skins some depth with Chris Horton (toe) out for the season.
  • The National Football Post reports the Cowboys have signed P Sam Paulescu.
    Paulescu started for the Broncos in Week 17 last season. He’ll replace pro bowler Matt McBriar who was injured on the final play of Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.
  • Bucs waived P Sam Paulescu.
    The 26-year-old will be replaced by sixth-round pick Brent Bowden. Paulescu was the Bucs’ punter in five games last season, dropping eight kicks inside the opposing 20-yard line and averaging a solid 43.4 yards per attempt.

    Bucs sixth-round pick P Brent Bowden is expected to compete with Sam Paulescu in training camp.
    The Bucs went through a bunch of punters last season after Josh Bidwell got hurt in the preseason. Paulescu averaged 42.4 yards per punt in five games with the Bucs, but Bowden should have the edge here with a stronger leg.
  • Redskins signed P Sam Paulescu.
    Paulescu was with the Redskins for one game last season. He’ll replace Hunter Smith as the punter as well as the holder on field goals and extra point attempts.
  • 49ers signed P Sam Paulescu, formerly of the Redskins.
    Starter Andy Lee has a hip pointer, so Paulescu will just be a camp body until he returns. Paulescu averaged 41.2 yards on 17 punts in D.C. last year.
