Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a sensational stoppage-time goal as Everton twice came back to draw Manchester United 2-2 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday.
Bryan Mbeumo gave United a lead before Tyrique George leveled the score in the second half, but Benjamin Sesko came off the bench to deliver what many visiting fans figured was three points to the Red Devils.

But Maitland-Niles stepped onto a loose ball outside the 18 and curled a wondrous shot into the upper 90 to defy Senne Lammens and get Everton a point.
Jack Grealish was an influential sub for the Toffees while Marcus Rashford did well in United’s Starting XI as two would-be redemptive PL tales took their next steps.
Everton sit eighth with five points while the Red Devils are 11th with four.

Manchester United host Azerbaijani champions Sabah on Thursday in their first UEFA Champions League league phase match, then host Man City in the derby for an 11:30am ET Sunday kickoff.
Everton go to Spurs at 12:30pm Saturday, then welcome Wolves to town for a League Cup match.
The Manchester United boss knows Everton scored two great, xG-defying goals, but is disappointed overall.
“There was a lot of good things,” Carrick said. “Especialy early on in the game and probably towards the end not so much. We looked dangerous. I thought we called a lot of problems. They got really good goals for different reasons and our second one should’ve been a winner.”

“They were really intense, especially the last minutes. We were trying to give everything, block every shot. It was a great goal, by the way, going into the top corner. We have to accept it and react in the next match.”

Sesko picks up the ball in midfield and sends it to Bruno Fernandes on the left.
Fernandes waits for Luke Shaw’s overlapping run, and Shaw sends in an invitation for Sesko.
The big forward rises high and turns a header toward the near corner. Pickford gets low to put a hand on it but cannot stop the Slovenian’s bid to restore United’s lead.

Hayden Hackney dribbles into a mass of bodies and then rescues a loose ball, finding Tyrique George on the right side of the box.
George absolutely pummels a shot into the upper reaches inside the near post, as Senne Lammens couldn’t get near it.
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes catches a blade from James Tarkowski, and it’s opened a cut on the Portuguese.
United are furious that the game continued while Fernandes was prone on the field, and there’s some blood coming through his white sock.
Harry Maguire is cautioned for his protestations after the Red Devils put the ball out of play.
Hayden Hackney is into the game for Rohl, who was on a yellow.
Everton midfielder James Garner is now down on the pitch for the second time in a few minutes and David Moyes needs to use his third substitution window.

Mbeumo gets the ball from Kobbie Mainoo on the wing and waltzes past Mykolenko, and no one else can catch him before a shot from just inside the 18 beats Jordan Pickford in the 47th minute.
Entertaining, for sure, but we’re without goals as Jarrad Branthwaite puts an exclamation point on the first half with a slide tackle in Everton’s box followed by a brave block.
It’s been pretty even, probably just favoring Man United. The Red Devils lead in shot attempts (7-5) and hold 53% possession. Everton has a slight edge in xG (0.34-0.32).
Merlin Rohl sends in a hopeful cross from the right and it turns out to be a beauty.

This game is getting scrappy, as Bruno Fernandes and Harrison Armstrong are the latest to engage with each other.
Armstrong puts his arm around the back of Fernandes neck and pulls him to the ground, earning a yellow card.

Luke Shaw gets down the left and around the corner, flipping the field with a cross to the back post.
Bryan Mbeumo knocks it back toward the penalty spot and Bruno Fernandes comports his body to hit a side volley toward goal that beats Jordan Pickford but pops the cross bar.
Manchester United center back Harry Maguire went down after 30 seconds at Hill Dickinson Stadium, and spent 3-4 minutes on the pitch with trainers.
Maguire went up for a header and misjudged it, pushing the side of his face into the back of Thierno Barry’s head as the Everton man flicked the ball forward.
He left the pitch for a minute but has been put back into his position. Leny Yoro, not Ayden Heaven, was briefly warming up to replace him.
Everton boss David Moyes makes just one change with Brennan Johnson coming in for Iliman Ndiaye, who left for Man City on deadline day.
Deadline day signings Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Jack Grealish are on the bench, with teenage forward Braiden Graham on the bench and Everton’s only other center forward option behind Thierno Barry.

David Moyes was the manager of Manchester United for most of the 2013-14 season after leaving Everton, and in that United team was a certain Michael Carrick.
Over 12 years on, they now meet on the sidelines today as Moyes is back at Everton and Carrick is United’s boss.
There is a lot of respect between the duo and even though things didn’t work out for Moyes at United, generally United’s fans don’t blame him and it was more about a huge upheaval at the club after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Moyes’ Everton won at United heroically early last season after being reduced to 10 men early.
But Carrick’s United won 1-0 at Everton in February and he would take the same today.
Manchester United bounced back from their shock 2-0 defeat at Hull on the opening weekend by beating another new boy, Ipswich Town, 5-2 at home last weekend.
But that scoreline didn’t tell the whole story. United went 1-0 down and gave up several big chances as they were wide-open on the counter.
Michael Carrick is working hard to address that defensive imbalance and making sure United give up fewer big chances to opponents.
Going forward they look great with Bruno Fernandes scoring a hat trick last week and Matheus Cunha, Marcus Rashford and Bryan Mbeumo a real handful.
But the main aim for United is getting the midfield balance right and becoming tougher to counter.
Well, it was a transfer deadline day to forget for Everton.
Their fans will show their displeasure towards the ownership and decision makers today, as a couple of big deals riled them.
First, star playmaker Iliman Ndiaye was sold to Manchester City on deadline day. He has been their best player over the last few years, so that is a massive blow.
Then they sold Beto to Fiorentina and had USMNT striker Folarin Balogun coming in from Monaco.
But there was an issue with his medical, according to David Moyes, and the move fell through at the last minute. That left Everton scrambling around to sign another striker but they couldn’t sort it out.
That means the only recognized center forward they have is Thierno Barry. What a mess.
Everton did bring in Hayden Hackney, Jack Grealish, Brennan Johnson, Christian Norgaard and Ainsley Maitland-Niles during the summer, but overall their squad is weaker than at the start of the summer.
Especially in attack, the one area they needed to strengthen.
