Marc Cucurella assisted both of Oyarzabal’s goals from the left wing, a pair of first-time finishes requiring such deft touch and placement. Oyarzabal also bagged a brace in Spain’s 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia during the group stage, bringing his tournament tally to four, now just two behind Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in the race for Golden Boot.

Pedro Porro got the other goal for Spain, a powerful header through traffic just after the hour mark set up by Alex Baena.

Up next for Spain will be either Portugal or Croatia in the round of 16 on Monday (3 pm ET).

Spain continue to control and dominate possession in the second half, and it was only a matter of time before they scored a second goal. Alex Baena floated a cross to the top of six-yard box and Pedro Porro arrived from deep and put it away with aplomb.

It had been wave after wave of Spanish pressure the last few minutes, and finally they are on the board. Cucurella found a yard of space on the left and picked out Mikel Oyarzabal near the penalty spot. Oyarzabal made it look easy with a soft first-time redirect, but it wasn’t easy at all.

The constant scrap before and during set pieces continues, and Spain have had a goal ruled out for it. Marc Cucurella slammed home at the back post but Alexander Schlager was impeded by a crowed of bodies on his goal line.
