Arne Friedrich goes through initial Chicago Fire workout

Arne Friedrich

New Chicago Fire addition Arne Friedrich went through his first full training this morning with Frank Klopas’ side. The former German international followed a full training session with extra work on the side directed by the club’s strength and conditioning coach.

He then talked to a group of reporters about joining MLS.

Frankly, I was hoping something eventful or interesting had happened. Not much, though, really. I’m told he talked to Pavel Pardo in German (Pardo spent three Bundesliga seasons at Stuttgart). Friedrich said hopes to get game-fit quickly (no health issues) and take the field in about three weeks.

See? Nothing momentous. Would it have killed him to pants Dominic Oduro? Or maybe throw down a properly accented impersonation of fellow German (and U.S. national team coach) Jurgen Klinsmann?

So, all I got is this picture at the right, courtesy of the Chicago Fire, of his first day at training.

Well, and this Q&A, too, I suppose.
