Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery has spent seven seasons playing on Germany’s most dominant squad, and after signing a four-year extension a summer ago, there is still a possibility of an exit to a different league before he officially hangs up the boots.
Ribery has made it clear that he and his entire family have thoroughly enjoyed his stretch in Munich since he left Marseille in Ligue 1 to boost his career. He noted that his life has truly unfolded while at Bayern.
“I’ve been here for almost eight years,” he said to Germany Sunday magazine Welt am Sonntag. “Bayern and I are like a married couple. I bought us a house here. My son was born here. I raised my daughters here. They speak better German than me: articulate and grammatically perfect.”

However, in similar fashion to aging stars across Europe, the 31-year-old, who likely still has multiple effective years ahead of him, revealed that heading to the United States, among other countries, is not out of the question at some point.
“I could play for another club in Europe but my heart is beating too much for Bayern. But I could imagine going to the U.S., Qatar or Dubai for a new experience.”
Ribery is set to play out the rest of his deal at Bayern, but, although just a rumor now in the past year’s MLS transfer activity, it wouldn’t be hugely surprising to see the technically gifted man grace the fields in America. Let’s hope Frank Lampard and David Villa have good reviews of the league when the Frenchman’s time arrives.
