Chelsea unveils new away kit - white, sharp and . . . French?

Mata Chelsea

Chelsea has unveiled their new away kit and it’s very . . . French?

After last year’s black strip the Blues have decided to lighten things up and go with a largely white shirt.

The shirt is a modest design, with a mid-blue trim offset by a horizontal red and blue band, matched by the trim on the sleeve. The kit is rounded off with white shorts with blue accents and blue socks.

It’s hard not to look at the kit and think that it bears a striking resemblance to the away kit France wore when it won the 1998 World Cup. That clean, sharp look has a conservative feel but when pitted against the modern atrocity that is the Liverpool away kit, it looks really sharp.

The only shame, really, is how Adidas makes that Chelsea players dunk their limbs in blue paint to show it off. That must have taken some convincing.
